Chipper Cash Strengthens Partnership With Visa to Enhance Collaboration on Card Issuance

African fintech platform that offers mobile, cross-border money transfer services Chipper Cash, has strengthened its partnership with payments giant Visa, to continue their collaboration on card issuance.

This renewed partnership builds upon their existing agreement and involves the two companies expanding their collaboration in several areas.  Also, the expansion includes a joint effort to enhance card issuance services across regulatory and functional domains.

The collaboration will also leverage Chipper’s expertise and Visa’s extensive network capabilities, particularly in areas such as Visa licensing and marketing.

Speaking on the strengthened partnership, Chipper Cash Chief Product Officer Brett Macgrath said,

“Today’s announcement means we can deliver on our priorities at a faster pace than we could do alone; harnessing Visa’s global reach to enable us to continue to bring the very best products and services to customers”.

Also speaking, Visa said it is excited to strengthen its partnership with Chipper Cash as it deepens the company’s support in the growing demand for digital financial services in Africa.

Visa Senior Director of Fintechs in Sub-Saharan Africa Meagan Rabe said,

“Our strengthened partnership with Chipper Cash deepens our support in the growing demand for digital financial services in Africa and driving meaningful impact across the continent. We look forward to continuing our work with Chipper Cash to redefine and expand the boundaries of financial accessibility and convenience”.

Recall that in September this year, Chipper announced that it has issued over one million Chipper cards to people living in Africa and beyond. And on top, the Fintech company stands proud as the largest issuer of virtual cards in Africa.

The Chipper Card product has continued a play a crucial role in linking up underserved customers to the global economy, now more than ever before. Also, digital money is now moving at greater volumes and faster speeds than ever, with cross-border trade expected to grow from almost $150 trillion in 2017 to over $250 trillion by 2027.

Notably, Chipper’s latest expansion of its partnership with Visa comes two months after the Fintech company announced the launch of Chipper ID, an AI-driven verification and onboarding tool built specifically for the African continent.

With the Chipper ID, the company is leveraging the power of AI to revolutionize onboarding and customer verification for the people of the African continent.
