Chris Ofikulu Appointed as New Executive Director of Polaris Bank

Seasoned and Renowned banker Chris Ofikulu has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Polaris Bank.

His appointment comes following the dissolution of the board of directors for Polaris, Union, and Keystone banks, by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

With over thirty (30) years of banking experience, Chris brings a wealth of expertise to the bank, with twenty-eight (28) years specifically focused on Business Development.

His journey in the banking sector includes significant roles at UBA and Diamond Bank, Nigeria’s leading commercial banks.

Before his appointment, he was the MD/CEO of UBA Ghana. His leadership led the bank to achieve remarkable milestones, such as being ranked number one in Customer Experience in the KPMG Ghana Banking Industry Customer Experience Survey.

Also, he was the UBA Group’s Directorate Head, Apapa 1 (Corporate) in Nigeria. Before joining UBA Group, Chris had worked in one of the Top Commercial Banks in Nigeria, Diamond Bank, where he served in various capacities including the Directorate Head in charge of the South Businesses; and the Directorate Head in charge of Lagos and West Businesses.

At Diamond Bank, he held diverse positions, including Directorate Head overseeing South Businesses and Directorate Head managing Lagos and West Businesses. The seasoned banker was the pioneer Managing Director of Diamond Pension Fund Custodian Limited. 

He holds a B.Sc. Degree (First Class) in Industrial Mathematics from the University of Benin, Benin City; and MBA from the University of Lagos. 

He also attended the following prestigious Business Schools: The Wharton Business School, Philadelphia; IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Barcelona; and Lagos Business School, Pan-African University.

In November 2023, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Banking CEO of the Year’ category at the Ghana CEO Awards.
