South African Payment Gateway Peach Payments, Acquires Software Development Firm Operativa
Peach Payments, a South African based fast-growing South African-based payment services provider that enables digital commerce and payments for merchants of all sizes, has acquired customer software development firm Operativa.
The acquisition was the first by Peach Payments since closing a €29M/US$30M funding round, led by the Apis Growth Fund II, last year.
Also, the acquisition sees the full Operativa team integrated into Peach Payments, with Operativa co-founders Dayne Olivier and Ben Janecke taking on Principal Engineer positions.
Speaking on the acquisition, Rahul Jain, CEO and co-founder of Peach Payments said,
“Operativa has been a trusted partner since the very beginning of our relationship, so the opportunity to acquire the business was not only a strategic business decision but felt like a natural next step”.
Operativa has serviced clients in the financial services, information security, e-commerce, and cloud hosting industries. Following the acquisition, it is handing over operations to its other clients to ensure business continuity.
Also commenting on the deal, Dayne Olivier, co-founder at Operativa who will be a Principal Engineer at Peach Payments following the recent acquisition, said that Operativa has always enjoyed working with Peach Payments.

It is worth noting that since 2022, Operativa has collaborated with Peach Payments, building and maintaining various payment systems and solutions that have facilitated Peach Payments’ rapid expansion, including integrating additional payment methods like Apple Pay and onboarding new merchants and banking partners.
Founded in Cape Town in 2012, Peach Payments offers a comprehensive toolkit to help businesses accept, manage, and disburse payments through web and mobile platforms. It is the second-largest online payment gateway in South Africa and has expanded to Kenya and Mauritius. By bringing Operativa’s specialized skills and developers in-house, this will allow Peach Payments to deliver on its growth strategy more quickly and efficiently.
