John Obaro, Founder and Group Managing Director of SystemSpecs Holdings Limited, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree by Kings University in Osun State in recognition of his contributions to Nigeria’s technology sector. The honor was presented during the university’s 5th and 6th convocation ceremony on October 25, celebrating Obaro’s role in advancing digital innovation across the nation.
The Chancellor of Kings University, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, also the Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre, presented the award and praised Obaro’s visionary leadership and dedication to regional progress, calling him an inspiring figure for future innovators. At the event, Obaro delivered a lecture titled, “Navigating the Digital Era: Embracing Creativity and Unlocking the Boundaries of Technology,” where he highlighted creativity as essential for pushing the frontiers of technology.
“As we navigate this digital age, creativity becomes the key to unlocking boundaries and advancing technology across sectors. Innovation isn’t limited to tech alone; its integration in fields like law, medicine, and engineering opens new paths for growth,” he stated. Obaro also encouraged the graduating students to take up the mantle of innovation, emphasizing the role they play in shaping the future.
Addressing the graduates, Pastor Ashimolowo encouraged them to seize the vast opportunities within Nigeria, a country he described as rich with potential for creative minds. “Creativity is what companies seek. There is opportunity here in Nigeria if you make a difference through innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship,” he noted, urging students to look beyond current challenges and envision a brighter future.
