MTN Nigeria Strengthens Leadership Team, Appoints Yahaya Ibrahim as CTO And Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka as CMO
MTN Nigeria, a leading telecommunications company, has announced the appointment of Yahaya Ibrahim as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), effective October 14, 2024.
Yahaya Ibrahim: A Veteran in Telecommunications
Ibrahim, a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience at MTN, has been instrumental in shaping the company’s technological advancements. His notable contributions include spearheading the deployment of Nigeria’s first 4G and 5G networks, solidifying MTN’s position as a technology pioneer.
In 2015, as General Manager of Network Implementation, Ibrahim oversaw the extensive rollout of over 37,000 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Abuja and a Master’s degree in Telecommunications from Birmingham City University. Additionally, he has completed executive management programs at prestigious institutions like Lagos Business School and Harvard Business School.
Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka: A Proven Leader in Telecommunications Marketing
Ikenna-Emeka, succeeding Adia Sohwo as CMO, has a distinguished career spanning over two decades at MTN. She has held various leadership roles, including Senior Manager of Corporate Accounts, General Manager of Enterprise Sales and Marketing, General Manager of Fixed Broadband, and most recently, Chief Broadband Officer.
Under her leadership, MTN’s fixed broadband business, encompassing Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and Fibre To The Home (FTTH), has experienced significant growth, with the subscriber base surpassing 3 million.
Ikenna-Emeka holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Calabar and an MBA in General Management from the University of Manchester. She is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) and the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management of Nigeria (ISMMN).
Her academic pursuits extend to executive programs at Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Said, and Lagos Business Schools, and she is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Cranfield University’s School of Management.
