Amazon Web Services (AWS) Adds Nigerian Naira to Payment Options
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has expanded its payment options by including the Nigerian Naira and other local currencies in its service catalog. In a recent press release, the global cloud services provider announced plans to integrate eight new currencies alongside existing ones.
AWS customers in the US can now transact in Chilean Peso (CLP), Colombian Peso (COP), and Uruguayan Peso (UYU), while customers in Europe have access to Egyptian Pound (EGP), Nigerian Naira (NGN), Polish Zloty (PLN), Romanian Leu (RON), and Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH).
The move aims to enhance customer experience by enabling transactions in local currencies, eliminating additional costs associated with foreign exchange. AWS highlighted the importance of local currency payments in streamlining transactions, particularly in regions where regulatory limits constrain foreign currency usage.
In another update, AWS introduced support for sellers and channel partners to create contract pricing private offers in EUR, GBP, JPY, and AUD, allowing disbursements to non-US bank accounts. These enhancements simplify global business operations, facilitating easier transactions and fund flows worldwide.
By offering local currency payment options, AWS remains committed to meeting the needs of its diverse global customer base, ensuring accessibility and cost efficiency in financial transactions. The inclusion of the Nigerian Naira (NGN) in the payment options holds significant implications for Nigerians, particularly businesses and individuals leveraging cloud services.
