EqualyzAI Unveils AI Solutions to Break Language Barriers and Drive Inclusion in Africa

EqualyzAI, a pioneering artificial intelligence startup, has officially launched its suite of AI-driven solutions aimed at making technology more accessible to native African language speakers. With a strong focus on inclusivity, the company seeks to develop AI models that understand and interact with users in their local languages, ensuring broader access to essential services.

By leveraging hyperlocal datasets and collaborating with native speakers, EqualyzAI is building AI solutions that reflect the linguistic and cultural diversity of Africa. The newly launched tools are designed to enhance education, data collection, and financial literacy:

  • uLearn: A smart assistant that helps educators create lesson plans, notes, and quizzes in English and African languages, transforming the learning experience.
  • DataCollect: A data-gathering platform focused on creating diverse linguistic datasets to develop AI tools that communicate effectively in multiple African languages.
  • AfroSLM 1.0: A specialized small language model (SLM) designed to improve financial literacy in Yoruba and Hausa, making financial education more accessible.

Speaking at the launch on the International Day of Mother Languages, Co-founder and CEO Dr. Olubayo Adekanmbi emphasized the startup’s vision:

Our mission is to ensure that AI speaks our languages, understands our contexts in text, speeches, images and videos, and solves our unique challenges. This is not just about technology; it’s about empowerment and inclusion. At EqualyzAI, we are bridging this gap by creating AI solutions trained on African realities, ensuring that no one is left behind.”

Founded in January 2023 by Dr. Olubayo Adekanmbi (CEO) and Dr. Ife Adebara (CTO), EqualyzAI is on a mission to process over 75 African languages, each spoken by at least a million people. By integrating AI into real-world applications, the company is reshaping the future of digital interaction for millions across the continent.
