Network International (Network), a leading digital commerce enabler across the Middle East and Africa (MEA), has been appointed as a Payment Processor – Issuing Partner for MTN Group Fintech, Africa’s leading mobile financial services provider. This collaboration marks a major expansion of Network’s issuer processing services across the continent.

With operations in over 50 countries and partnerships with more than 250 financial institutions, Network International’s expertise will enhance MTN Fintech’s mobile financial services, delivering greater value to customers and stakeholders.

Expanding Card Issuance Across Africa

The partnership will focus on rolling out card issuance products across key MTN Fintech markets, starting with Rwanda, which is already operational. Uganda, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria will soon follow. Network International will provide a comprehensive suite of services, including transaction processing, card management, and online fraud prevention, ensuring a seamless digital payment experience for MTN Fintech users.

Strengthening Africa’s Digital Financial Ecosystem

Dr. Reda Helal, Group Managing Director – Processing, Africa and Co-Head Group Processing at Network International, emphasized the significance of this partnership:

“Our collaboration with MTN Group Fintech marks a major milestone for our outsourced payments services in Africa. It showcases our ability to serve Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) through our fully-fledged processing solutions and reinforces our commitment to the African region. We are excited to support MTN Group Fintech’s growth and expansion strategy.”

Cedric N’guessan, Executive for Payment and E-commerce at MTN Group Fintech, highlighted the impact of the collaboration:

“This partnership with Network International is pivotal in enhancing financial inclusion across Africa. It enables our customers to participate more actively in the global economy, aligning with our strategic goals alongside Mastercard to broaden access to digital financial services.”

Network International has also been strengthening its presence in Africa. In August 2024, the company launched ‘Network One’ in Nigeria, an integrated payment suite offering merchant and issuer solutions hosted and supported locally. This platform is designed to empower banks, mobile network operators, and fintechs in Nigeria and the broader West African region

This partnership underscores MTN Group Fintech’s commitment to driving digital transformation and expanding access to financial services, empowering millions across Africa.
