Centi And Yellow Card Partner to Revolutionize Swiss-Africa Remittances

2 min read

Swiss fintech company Centi has joined forces with Yellow Card, a leading pan-African cryptocurrency exchange, to simplify and reduce the cost of remittances between Europe and Africa. This collaboration significantly expands Centi’s footprint on the continent, allowing users in Switzerland to send money to recipients in 20 African nations seamlessly.

Through this partnership, Centi users can now convert Swiss francs into cryptocurrency, store funds in non-custodial wallets, and transfer them to family and friends in Africa. The recipients receive the funds in their local currency, ensuring fast and direct transactions without hidden fees. The integration of Yellow Card’s crypto-fiat onramp and offramp infrastructure enhances efficiency, offering a transparent and affordable alternative to traditional remittance services.

Bernhard Müller, CEO of Centi, emphasized the company’s mission to disrupt outdated remittance systems that burden migrants with excessive fees and unfavorable exchange rates. With Centi’s solution, users can now send CHF 100 for just CHF 2—an 85% reduction in costs compared to conventional providers.

The expanded service includes:

  • Coverage across 20 African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.
  • Access to over 350 million mobile money users via MTN, Airtel, and M-Pesa.
  • Direct transfers to more than 100 African banks.

Chris Maurice, CEO of Yellow Card, highlighted the impact of the partnership, stating that it eliminates hidden costs and brings instant, stablecoin-based transactions to millions across Africa. Yellow Card, which has processed over $3 billion in transactions and secured $33 million in funding, continues to strengthen its financial infrastructure across the continent.

With this initiative, Centi and Yellow Card are reshaping cross-border payments, making them more accessible, cost-effective, and transparent for African families relying on remittances.
