KCB Bank has taken a bold step in transforming cross-border payments with the introduction of Kenya’s first platinum multi-currency prepaid card, developed in collaboration with Compass Plus Technologies. This innovative card is designed to offer customers seamless financial transactions across multiple countries without the hassle of currency exchange fees.
The new prepaid card supports 11 widely used currencies, including the Kenyan Shilling, US Dollar, British Pound Sterling, Euro, Swiss Franc, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Indian Rupee, Japanese Yen, South African Rand, and Chinese Yuan. By enabling users to load and spend in these currencies directly, the card minimizes conversion costs and enhances convenience for frequent travelers, global shoppers, and business professionals.

Through our partnership with Compass Plus Technologies, we continue to empower our customers with solutions that simplify their financial transactions across borders.”
Cardholders will benefit from competitive exchange rates, reduced transaction fees, and a secure, efficient way to manage multi-currency spending without needing multiple bank accounts or separate cards. The prepaid nature of the card also enhances budgeting control while ensuring security in international transactions.
Adil Ahmed, Vice President & Deputy Managing Director, MEA at Compass Plus Technologies, highlighted the strategic partnership’s success: “KCB Bank has consistently been a pioneer in offering cutting-edge banking solutions. This multi-currency prepaid card sets a new benchmark in Africa’s financial sector, making international payments smoother and more accessible.”
KCB Bank’s collaboration with Compass Plus Technologies dates back to 2012, when they integrated their banking infrastructure into a unified processing center. Since then, the partnership has continued to drive financial inclusion and expand the bank’s footprint in East Africa. With this latest launch, KCB Bank is reaffirming its leadership in providing modern, customer-centric financial solutions.
