Yellow Card Champions Gender Diversity in Africa’s Tech Space
1 min read
As Africa’s technology sector undergoes rapid transformation, gender disparity remains a significant challenge. Women account for only 20% of the tech workforce in the Middle East and Africa, highlighting the need for greater female representation in the industry.
Recognizing this gap, Pan-African cryptocurrency exchange and fintech company Yellow Card is reinforcing its commitment to gender inclusion. At the forefront of this initiative is Lasbery Oludimu, Vice President of Global Operations and Managing Director of Yellow Card Nigeria, who has played a pivotal role in making cryptocurrency accessible across Africa.
Her contributions to the fintech space earned her a spot on The Financial Technology Report’s list of the Top 50 Women Leaders in Financial Technology 2024, an honor shared by only one other African woman.
Oludimu stressed the importance of increasing female participation in Africa’s digital economy. “Diversity is essential for innovation. Women must take leadership roles in shaping the future of financial technology,” she said. “Though challenges exist, we continue to prove that we belong in this space by creating opportunities and paving the way for the next generation of women in tech.”
To drive this mission forward, Yellow Card actively partners with initiatives like Women in Tech, a global movement dedicated to bridging the gender gap in technology. Through mentorship programs, networking events, and skills development workshops, the company aims to empower women and foster an inclusive tech ecosystem in Africa.
