Mojo Payments Limited, a Bank of Ghana (BoG) licensed Enhanced Payment Service Provider, has unveiled its Innovation Hub—a groundbreaking initiative designed to accelerate the growth of fintech startups by providing essential resources, mentorship, and strategic support.
The hub’s initial focus will be on fintech startups within the MEST Africa Portfolio, offering a suite of benefits, including regulatory guidance, discounted payment processing, business development support, and investment readiness programs. As part of its long-term vision, Mojo Payments plans to collaborate with ecosystem partners to expand these offerings to a broader community of fintech entrepreneurs.
The launch event, held on March 15, 2025, at Mojo Payments’ headquarters in Ridge, Accra, brought together key industry stakeholders, representatives from the Bank of Ghana, and MEST Africa.
Speaking at the event, Mojo Payments CEO Saqib Nazir emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering startups:
“We are thrilled to partner with MEST Africa in supporting fintech startups with the regulatory, operational, and business development expertise they need to scale effectively. This initiative reflects our dedication to fostering innovation and compliance within Africa’s fintech landscape.”
He further highlighted that Mojo Payments’ experience in regulatory compliance and digital payments would help startups navigate challenges and unlock new opportunities for expansion.
Ashwin Ravichandran, Portfolio Director at MEST Africa, echoed this sentiment, stating:
“This partnership with Mojo Payments aligns with our mission to nurture Africa’s next generation of technology entrepreneurs. By providing access to mentorship, financial services, and strategic networks, we are equipping startups with the tools needed to drive digital transformation and economic growth.”
Ghana is rapidly emerging as a fintech leader in Africa, with the Bank of Ghana playing a pivotal role in advancing digital financial services through mobile money, digital payment systems, and blockchain adoption. Initiatives like the Mojo Payments Innovation Hub will further strengthen Ghana’s position in the fintech ecosystem, fostering greater financial inclusion and economic progress.
As digital finance continues to reshape Africa’s economic landscape, innovation hubs such as this will be instrumental in supporting startups, enhancing accessibility to financial services, and driving sustainable growth across the continent.
