Binance Integrates Mobile Money Payments to Boost Crypto Access Across Africa

Leading blockchain and cryptocurrency infrastructure provider Binance has announced the integration of its crypto services with mobile money payments across Africa. The service will launch in several West and Central African countries, including Benin, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Togo, and Senegal, enabling users to purchase crypto directly via mobile money.

This innovation, powered by local partnerships, underscores Binance’s commitment to driving innovation and expanding access to cryptocurrency on the continent. Samantha Fuller, Binance’s spokeswoman, emphasized the company’s focus on advancing financial inclusion through user-friendly solutions, stating, “This expansion into West and Central Africa is a significant step in our mission to increase crypto adoption, providing millions of people with more direct access to the global digital economy.”

Currently, the crypto-to-mobile money service supports only BUY transactions, simplifying the entry point for new users in the region. Binance users can follow a straightforward process on the app to add funds and complete crypto purchases in their local fiat currencies.

This initiative reflects Binance’s broader vision of democratizing access to cryptocurrency across Africa by leveraging the widespread adoption of mobile money. The company is positioning itself as a key player in financial inclusion, expanding its reach to more people and potentially achieving regulatory milestones by partnering with local mobile money operators and complying with local regulations.
