Allawee Partners with Mastercard to Launch Credit-Building Card for Civil Servants and NYSC Members

Allawee, a leading Nigerian digital lending fintech, has teamed up with Mastercard to launch a groundbreaking credit-building card aimed at enhancing financial access for federal civil servants and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

Facilitated by Mastercard’s secure platform and issued in collaboration with Providus Bank, Remita, and Credicorp, this card offers instant credit access and financial flexibility to over 720,000 federal civil servants and NYSC members—all through the Allawee app.

Bridging Nigeria’s Credit Gap

With over 70% of Nigerian bank account holders lacking access to credit, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, the Allawee credit card addresses a critical gap in the financial ecosystem. Designed to cater to the unique financial needs of Nigerians, it promotes responsible credit usage through seamless digital onboarding, user-friendly features, and tools for credit management.

Advancing Financial Inclusion

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Allawee on this innovative credit solution, which aligns perfectly with Mastercard’s commitment to bring one billion people into the digital economy by 2025. The Allawee credit card provides instant access to credit while also empowering civil servants and NYSC members in Nigerian to build their creditworthiness, further advancing financial inclusion across the country,” said Folasade Femi-Lawal, country manager and area business head for West Africa at Mastercard.

The initiative supports the Nigerian government’s goal to increase credit availability to 50% of working Nigerians by 2030. By offering a secure and flexible way to access credit, the Allawee card empowers users to build their creditworthiness while meeting their financial needs.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Instant Credit Access: Users can apply for loans, receive approval, and start transacting immediately through a fast, secure, and fully digital process.
  • Wide Acceptance: The co-branded card is accepted at POS terminals, ATMs, and online platforms across Nigeria and globally.
