LemFi Introduces AI-Powered Send Now, Pay Later Service to Empower UK Immigrants with Smarter Remittance Options
3 min read
LemFi, a fast-growing international payments platform, has launched an innovative AI-powered remittance service called Send Now, Pay Later (SNPL), a first-of-its-kind solution that lets UK immigrants send money home instantly while paying later through flexible credit.
The new feature is designed to help millions of immigrants in the UK who send nearly £10 billion back home each year. Many often struggle with timing mismatches between urgent family needs and their earning cycles. With SNPL, LemFi bridges this financial gap, ensuring that loved ones receive support without delay, even when senders face temporary cash flow constraints.
Solving a Real Challenge for Immigrants
Traditional remittance platforms typically require immediate payments, leaving immigrants few affordable options during emergencies. LemFi’s Send Now, Pay Later introduces a new era of convenience by combining credit access with remittance, offering relief to those with limited or no UK credit history.
The system is powered by LemFi’s Ensemble AI model, which uses a blend of data from national credit bureaus, open banking insights, and remittance patterns to make smart, risk-adjusted credit decisions. This approach ensures fair credit access for users regardless of their background or length of stay in the UK.
According to Ridwan Olalere, LemFi’s co-founder and CEO, while Buy Now, Pay Later revolutionized how people shop, remittances remained rigid. With Send Now, Pay Later, we’ve made it possible for immigrants to support their families without waiting for payday. It’s a step toward financial inclusion and empowerment.
How LemFi’s Send Now, Pay Later Works
To access SNPL, users are onboarded to LemFi Credit, where they can receive credit lines ranging from £300 to £1,000 depending on their credit profile. LemFi’s open banking technology and alternative credit assessment tools make this service accessible even to newcomers who lack traditional UK financial records.
The platform recognizes international credit histories, evaluates affordability, and adjusts credit limits automatically based on each customer’s circumstances. When a sender chooses the SNPL option, the transfer is processed instantly while the payment is deferred, allowing flexibility without sacrificing reliability.
Tackling Financial Exclusion with AI
In the UK, around five million people are considered credit invisible, and immigrants are disproportionately affected. LemFi’s AI-driven credit system helps break this barrier by using broader data points to assess risk, thus reducing bias and improving access to financial services.
This technology helps predict repayment potential with greater accuracy than traditional credit scoring systems, ensuring fair treatment for all users.
Expanding Beyond the UK
LemFi plans to extend its SNPL service to other key markets, including the United States, Canada, and Europe, where similar challenges exist among immigrant communities. The company already serves over 2 million users who send money to more than 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
Since its founding, LemFi has raised over 86 million dollars in funding, including a 53 million dollar Series B round led by Highland Europe, LeftLane Capital, Endeavor Capital, and Y Combinator.
A Step Toward Inclusive Financial Futures
LemFi’s Send Now, Pay Later marks a major milestone in AI-driven financial inclusion, helping immigrants bridge the gap between credit and remittance while fostering a more connected, inclusive financial ecosystem. By empowering people to support their families with dignity and flexibility, LemFi continues to redefine what’s possible in the global payments landscape.
