Klasha Goes Live in Sierra Leone, Granted Payment Service License to Operate Its Cross-Border Solutions

Klasha, a technology company that powers African payments for global companies to sell cross-border online to and from Africa, has been granted a payment service license to operate its cross-border solutions in Sierra Leone.

Klasha’s inclusion in the Bank of Sierra Leone’s Regulatory Sandbox Program underscores the company’s commitment to developing cutting-edge cross-border financial technology solutions that enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and security of cross-border payments and digital commerce.

With this license, Klasha will be able to operate in Sierra Leone and provide its innovative payment services to the country’s citizens and businesses.

Speaking on the license approval in Sierra Leone, CEO of Klasha Jessica Anuna disclosed how ecstatic the company is to have obtained the license, which she said will accelerate its growth and expand its reach in the Mano River Union.

In her words, 

“We are thrilled to have obtained this license, which will accelerate our growth and expand our reach in the Mano River Union. Sierra Leone is a vibrant and growing market, and we look forward to working with the Bank of Sierra Leone and other stakeholders to drive seamless cross-border transactions in the country”.

Klasha’s acquisition of a financial services license in Sierra Leone is part of the company’s broader strategy to expand its presence across Africa. 

With its innovative payment solutions, the company is well-positioned to address the challenges of e-commerce in Africa and drive financial inclusion on the continent.

The startup which was founded in 2021 has a customer base of roughly 45,000 people and serves both enterprises and consumers through a suite of products connected by a single API. Merchants outside of Africa can now accept payments from Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, and Zambia using KlahsaCheckout.

Kasha is well-positioned to overcome the difficulties of e-commerce in Africa and promote financial inclusion on the continent thanks to its innovative payment solutions.

The startup is supported by Plug and Play, American Expréss Ventures, Greycroft, Techstars, Global Ventures, and Seedcamp and has developed a payables and receivables solution for individuals and businesses that enables seamless financial flow between Africa and the rest of the world.

Klasha’s payment coverage stands in six high-growth African countries, with payouts in over 120 currencies. The startup is on a mission to enable businesses and consumers to transact in Africa as seamlessly as experienced on other continents.
